The 25th Ward IPO strives to build working class power amongst the diverse communities of the 25th Ward. With an understanding that our debilitating capitalist society must be transformed into a society based on equity and need, we fight for housing for all and an end to gentrification, a safe, sustainable environment, a justice system in which there is actual justice, and an economy that works for the many, not the few. The 25th Ward is home to many immigrants who enrich our community, culture & economy. We have a duty to protect each other and ensure that immigrants in our city, state, and country live without fear. In that same vein, we fight against pervasive anti-blackness and xenophobia that seek to divide our collective interests. We prioritize fighting back against gentrification and displacement that are erasing our communities. Our organization remains independent from any entrenched political interests whether they be the corrupt democratic party machine, or the politicians that serve it. Our power comes from community, and our practice is solidarity with communities of the working class, near or far, above all else.
